Project Updates

Construction crews are currently working on the final items needed to complete the waterline connection on Old Sunshine Road. Once this phase is finished, crews will shift their focus to installing new water meters over the next several weeks.

The meter installation work is being prioritized to ensure that meters can be read around the 7th of July and that utility bills can be processed and issued around the 15th of July.

After the meter installation phase is complete, construction crews will return to Old Sunshine Road to begin work on the stormwater improvement project.

Affected Areas:

• Old Sunshine Road (service interruption for the entire duration)
• Bostic Sunshine Road and Harrison Street (temporary disruptions may occur)

This interruption is necessary to connect the new water line on Old Sunshine Road.

In the event of inclement weather or a system emergency, this outage may be rescheduled.

Contractors were not on site the week of March 16, 2026 due to training. They remain off site the week of March 23, 2026 due to a prior obligation. 

Contractors are scheduled to be on site next week, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

The plans for the water system upgrade and stormwater improvements have been approved by the NC Department of Environmental Quality. Bids will go out for the project within the next couple of weeks.

In October 2023, the state lawmakers earmarked approximately $1.35 million for water and stormwater infrastructure for the Town of Bostic.  The Town Board is excited to inform you the NC Department of Environmental Quality has approved the project for Old Sunshine Road Water System Upgrade and Stormwater Improvements.  The Town has contracted with McGill Associates to oversee the project. 

The planning stage will take from six (6) to twelve (12) months before the project begins.  You will see surveyors in the area this week.  Project updates will be posted on the town’s website at:  Bostic Project Updates.
